If the task of the church is to make disciples, then it is also our responsibility to learn how to help others follow Christ and to be intentional about it. And this is the value of Mark Dever’s latest contribution to the 9Marks series from Crossway, Discipling. We here at Books At a Glance somehow failed to note its release last year, so we wanted to draw your attention to it.
The book is what you’ve come to expect from this 9Marks series: brief, to the point, yet usefully instructive. Dever introduces and defines his subject and then explores how the local church—both pastors and members—can effectively influence others to follow our Lord together faithfully. This of course is Christian “basics,” and for that very reason it ought to be our focus.
Like all the books in this series, Dever’s Discipling lends itself very well for profitable use in the Sunday School as well as for individual reading; church leadership teams would also do well to work through this book together so as to equip themselves better to be about the church’s Christ-given business. Highly recommended.
