A Brief Book Notice from Books At a Glance
by Fred G. Zaspel
I’m always eager to see books that direct lay Christians to a substantive understanding of Scripture in an accessible, even introductory way. Most Christians are not going to read the extensive commentaries their pastors must read, but many will read something “easy.” There are plenty of “easy” books out there, but most lack substance. The value of this series from Lexham is that it offers a substantive yet wonderfully accessible guided reading of the biblical text for readers of any level. The series title, The Transformative Word, reveals the underlying conviction that such a reading and study is a primary means of Christian growth.
I’ve perused many of the titles, and I am happily impressed. An excellent choice for individual study or small groups. Pastors, you’ll want to check these out for individual recommendations and for group studies.
