A Brief Book Notice from Books At a Glance
By Fred G. Zaspel
Given the distance between the contemporary Bible reader and the biblical world itself resources like this are most helpful. Overall, the editors here have assembled an excellent team of contributors, specialists in their respective fields. The “commentary” of each biblical book is relatively brief, giving almost exclusive attention to background items of interest. Some contributors disappoint on certain points (the Danielic date and authorship of Daniel are not taken seriously; the authorship of Peter is questioned, etc.); this affects some interpretive matters, but the book is given to background comments, and these comments are illuminating and useful indeed.
A helpful resource to have at hand.
