Two practical and very helpful works on two very common areas of concern, each in bitesize length.
In Prodigal Children Jones addresses Christian parents who grieve with concern over their wayward children who have left the faith. He offers specific counsel for trusting God and helps sort through the many considerations that attend. For Christian parents with grown, unbelieving children, this is very needed and helpful counsel.
In his Why Worry? Jones offers a practical exposition and application of Jesus’ words about worry in the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 6:19-34). He highlights not only the sin of worry – and what considerations, in fact, render it sinful – but also on the happy remedies that enable believers to live joyfully, trusting our Father’s care.
P&R has for some years (rightly) seen the value in brief, “bitesize” publications for today’s Christian (see, for example, here and here), and this Resources for Changing Lives series offers more of the same.
Both of these booklets deserve to be available in our churches. Genuine help for real-life issues.
