This is not the first time I’ve expressed my appreciation for the Basics of the Faith series from P&R. Every next generation of Christians needs to read and learn theology, but for a culture intimidated by books – especially big ones – it is a strategically wise to crunch big doctrines into small booklets.
Despite the resurgence of the doctrines of grace in our generation a general lack of precision in understanding the doctrines of divine calling and regeneration persists. Very helpfully Matthew Barrett’s booklet lays out the biblical teaching on these doctrines for us in just over 30 small pages of text, providing a crisp but insightful overview of the major relevant passages with careful theological explication. Brief, clear, and to the point. A very useful booklet to make available to your own church congregation!
