Jesus said, “You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.”
While many very evil things have been done by professing Christians (e.g., the Inquisitions, Crusades, racism, anti-Semitism, etc), such evils did not flow out of the teaching of the Bible, but out of an ignorance or perversion of Scripture. In contrast, the horrific moral evils perpetrated by the people discussed in this book flow directly out of the evolutionary worldview, as Dr. Bergman has carefully documented in this eye-opening book.
After an introductory chapter on the evil moral fruit of Darwin’s hypothesis, Bergman begins with two chapters dealing with evolution’s influence on the sexual revolution and eugenics through the writings of Havelock Ellis and Alfred Kinsey. This leads right on to a chapter about the racist eugenicist and abortionist founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, and another chapter about others who used evolution to justify abortion. The connection of Darwin to Sigmund Freud’s flawed views of psychoanalysis and Friedrich Nietzsche’s anti-Christian, nihilistic, “God is dead” philosophy is discussed in chapters 6 and 7.
In the next chapter, Bergman discusses the murder cases of Anders Behring Breivik and Charles Manson to show the fruit of social Darwinism. The damaging effects of Darwinism on the thinking of Benjamin Spock (the baby expert) and Chet Raymo (the Roman Catholic-turned-atheist astrophysics professor) and its role in fueling the anti-Christian stance of most of academia are covered in chapters 9 and 10. Remaining chapters discuss the church’s embrace of evolution and consequently its support for eugenics, the anti-Jewish and deadly racism of Hitler and other white supremacists, and the influence of Darwinism on the horrifically deadly Japanese imperialism in WWII. There is even a chapter on how evolutionary thinking destroys aesthetic sensibility.
The chapters are written to stand independently so the reader can choose the topics of greatest interest, but the full force of the argument will come through reading the whole book. Chapters are footnoted and the book contains a full bibliography for further research. It lacks a subject or name index, but given the nature of the stand-alone chapters and clear chapter titles, that is not a significant weakness.
The full title of Darwin’s book was The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection or The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. “Survival of the fittest” has been applied ruthlessly by the communists, Nazis, imperialists, abortionists, eugenicists, and sexual revolutionaries, resulting in the death of hundreds of millions of men, women and babies, and the perversion of civil society in America and many other countries.
The story of evolution (biological, geological and cosmological evolution over billions of years) is totally contrary to the Bible’s teaching and to the real scientific evidence, and the immoral fruit of evolutionary thinking further confirms that it is the greatest and most destructive lie ever forced on the minds of humanity. Dr. Bergman will help you see how incredibly destructive that lie has been. I highly recommend this book.
